Interview with C.H. Admirand and Giveaway

To kick off Royal Reviews Summer Sizzlers I would like welcome C.H. Admirand!

Question 1- Tell us something about yourself, so that we can get to know you a bit better…

CA: I’m a homebody whose life really is all about Romance, Family, Hearth & Home. I love to write and read romance, play in the dirt—in our gardens, and spend time in the kitchen baking. I enjoy cooking, but love to bake. My family keeps me grounded. I was lucky enough to marry the man I fell in love with at first sight when I was 17—he was 20. We’ll be married 33 years this August and have three great kids (well not so much kids anymore… LOL) two sons and a daughter in the middle. Last year our first grandbaby was born, and he is the light of our lives, but I keep reminding our daughter and her hubby that they’d better be on their toes with their little charmer. That smile of his is too adorable and will be a sure-fire way for him to get out of trouble.

Question 2- Your novel, Jesse, is out now—congrats!  Could you tell us about it?

CA: Thanks, Jesse is the youngest of the Garahan brothers who are trying to keep their 150 year old family legacy—The Circle G Ranch—going. Times are tough in Pleasure, Texas and each of the brothers has had to take on a night job to bring in extra cash. Family is at the heart of this story, as it is in all of my stories, and will be the glue that keeps the brothers going forward when the odds are against their succeeding. Jesse falls in love with two women…Danielle, the pretty blonde he stops to help when her car breaks down, and her 3-yr-old daughter Lacy who’s never seen a real cowboy before. Dressed in pink from the top of her tiny Stetson to the tips of her boots, the fairy-sized cowgirl steals his heart.

Question 3- This is the third book in The Secret Life of Cowboys. How does Jesse differ from Tyler (Book 1) and Dylan (Book 2)?

CA: The reader gets to spend more time out at the Circle G in this book. Danielle’s divorced and trying to make a new life for herself and her daughter, so she needs to focus on what’s best for Lacy, even while she’s daydreaming about a dark-haired, dark-eyed, handsome-as-sin cowboy who likes to call her Dani Darlin’. While Jesse doesn’t actually have the opportunity to work for Jolene and Emily at the Lucky Star Ladies Club, he does get up on stage with his brothers and four handsome-as-sin cousins to dance during the town’s first annual Take Pride in Pleasure Day.

Question 4- What inspired you to create sexy cowboys with an Irish heritage?

CA: I use family names in all of my books and so far haven’t run out of names from the Irish side. :-) My Grandfather Purcell was so proud of his Irish heritage that it filtered down to my brother, sisters, and I. The Purcell family motto is: Aut Vincam, Aut Periam…translation: I will either conquer or perish! And at times, I’ve felt that my life—personally and professionally—has reflected that motto. When I first started writing all those years ago, I wanted to have something no one else did, so I decided to use family names and our Irish heritage to create characters that would keep readers up night—like they kept me up nights writing their stories! LOL.

Question 5- What can readers expect next?

CA: The first book in my new Small Town USA series, A WEDDING IN APPLE GROVE, is releasing November 1st. The best part about the series, IMHO, is the fact that my heroines are running the family business since their father retired—a handyman business—yep, that’s right the Mulcahy sisters know how to use power tools…and Sourcebooks will have two of my recipes in the first three books. Time-and family tested recipes. Wait until you bake my Buttered Pecan Pie and Cream Scones...there won’t be any leftovers. :-)
I am delighted to be working on my first Digital Comic for Sea Lion Books. It’s a Western Romance…and my hero and heroine are Irish immigrants. :-) The title is BRING ‘EM BACK ALIVE and will be released March 1, 2013 with a special print edition available at the Graphic Expo at the RT Book Lover’s Convention in Kansas City, MO.

Question6- Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors?

CA: Absolutely! NEVER give up. You never know how close you are to realizing your dream of receiving “the call” if you do. My first book, was actually my 99th rejection. :-)
