Guest Post: Living in Burnt Boot, Texas by Carolyn Brown & Giveaway

 

Hello Lovelies. Carolyn Brown has kindly stopped by Royal Reviews today to introduce us to the town of Burnt Boot, Texas where her new romance series takes place. So, let’s make her feel at home.  

                                  

 

Welcome to Burnt Boot, Texas! The Trouble with Texas Cowboys is the second book in the Burnt Boot series and there are two more coming so keep your boots on and stay a while here in Burnt Boot. Sawyer and Jill will make you feel right at home on Fiddle Creek Ranch and Jill might even make one of her famous apple pies to go along with a glass of sweet tea.

 

Settling the town all started back in the cattle drive days when James Cleary, an Irishman who’d been on several cattle drives, got tired of looking at the south end of a north bound herd of cattle. When they came to the Red River and made camp he took off one of his boots, threw it in the fire and declared he wasn’t going to cross the river. He was staying right there and building a general store so that cowboys on the next drive that way could buy a plug of tobacco or maybe a stick of candy. 

 

He bought some land, named his place Fiddle Creek, built a store and started running a small herd. Then the Gallaghers moved in on one side of his place and set up Wild Horse Ranch. Before the year was out, the Brennans bought land on the other side and started River Bend. The Gallaghers were a bit wilder than the Brennans and when hard times came they put in a little side business of making moonshine. When the Feds found out and came to take Grandpa Gallagher to jail, the Gallagher’s blamed that Bible thumpin’ Brennan for turning them in, and it started a feud that was still in full effect when Sawyer and Jill came to Burnt Boot.

 

Only now the feud has taken on even a meaner edge with Naomi Gallagher over at Wild Horse and Mavis Brennan holding down River Bend. They’ve added their own personal vendetta to the feud and it’s running as wild as a rabid skunk.

 

Burnt Boot sports a private school on each ranch, a small public school, a bar that Polly Cleary owns and operates and the General Store which is actually part of Fiddle Creek Ranch that belongs to Gladys Cleary. Oh, and there is a church but it’s got three sections of pews. One side for the Gallaghers; one for the Brennans and the middle section for neutral folks.

 

Sawyer and Jill have been tossed into the whole scene with very little forewarning. The Gallaghers and the Brennans both want Fiddle Creek and the old ladies running the families figure the best way to get their hands on it is for either Quaid Brennan or Tyrell Gallagher to win Jill Cleary’s hand in marriage. To do that would be a real coup for one family and a severe slap in the face for the other.

 

So there are two cowboys wanting to spend time with her for the wrong reasons. And then there’s Sawyer O’Donnell who is everything she would like to have and lots of trouble stirred up in Burnt Boot around both of them. Sawyer and Jill decide they’d best make a pact to stick together for protection if they’re going to survive the newest feud battle.

 

What kind of cowboy would you pick if you were having trouble with three very different ones? Would you go for the one who could give you wealth or maybe the one that could offer you his heart?

 

Thanks for stopping by, Carolyn! Having read the first two books in this series, I can definitely say Burnt Boot, Texas is such an intriguing town with a feud that makes it even more intriguing.

 

 And if I were picking a cowboy, I would have to go for the one who would offer his heart. Like my Grandfather used to say, “Money means nothing if you don’t have the other piece of your heart”.
