Terry Spear Interview and Giveaway

Hello Lovelies!

I hope you all are well! Christmas is coming early to Royal Reviews. To kick things off please help me in welcoming Terry Spear back to Royal Reviews!

Can you describe your newest hero and heroine from A Highland Wolf Christmas?

Guthrie has been concerned with finances after his pack lost a lot of money to pirates—both of old and more recently. So when he learns that Calla Stewart is staying with them to help plan a Christmas party for the pack leaders, he's figuring it's going to cost a lot of money, and he's against it.

But Calla has a way of distracting him something fierce, and he ends up protecting her from her ex-almost mate. For the first time ever, Guthrie's concern about finances slips and all he can think of is Calla, the joy she brings to others, how he wants to protect her, and how financially responsible she truly is.

Calla doesn't want to be guarded while she's planning her events. She really doesn't feel that her ex is going to continue to give her trouble. And she doesn't want Guthrie overseeing her expenditures on the Christmas party for the pack. She's good at what she does, and she has no intention of overcharging the MacNeill wolf pack. But the more Guthrie accompanies her on her parties, the more she begins to really love that he is—and more.

What first attracts them to each other?

If Guthrie had moved quicker when they were young, he might have been already mated to Calla years earlier, but his older quadruplet brother had befriended her and he and the rest of his brothers had believed he'd mate the wolf someday. He admires Calla for all the work she puts into the parties she plans, and the way she brings joy into everyone's lives.

Calla loves how protective of her Guthrie is, alpha, Highland, male wolf that is he is. And she can't help but love the way he comes to her parties—screws them up big-time, and is just too loveable no matter what a disaster it can be.
A Highland Wolf Christmas is the fifteenth book in your Heart of the Wolf series. What makes you return to these wolf shifters over and over again?

I love the family aspect of wolves—and that relates to the family aspect of wolf shifters. They are both wolf and human—neither excluding the other when they are in one form or the other. Wolves are territorial. They set boundaries. They choose mates, and they choose them for a lifetime. Not that a wolf that loses a mate might not choose another, but there's no such thing as dumping a mate for another if the mate is still alive. Not only do they have that great aspect about them (note: dogs are dogs, they don't mate for life, so never, ever call a wolf a dog), but they take care of family, the kids, the cubs. Not just the parents, both Mom and Dad, but all the aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. They don't just take care of them as in show them the ropes and it's just a natural instinct to watch out for them—they LOVE them. Adore them.

This story takes place during the holidays. Do wolf shifters have any fun holiday traditions (different from humans, that is)?

They love to decorate with live plants—and bringing in the fresh out of doors. So fresh evergreen garlands, poinsettias, and mistletoe are the usual fare. In A SEAL Wolf Christmas, they bought a tree from the Christmas tree site. In A Highland Wolf Christmas, they are having their first ever living tree and will plant it on the castle grounds the day after Christmas. A lot depends on the situation with the pack. But most like more of a naturalistic setting, some traditional things that humans might have—Christmas balls and bows, lights, some wolf decorations. It all depends on the pack.

Shifters live a lot longer than humans, which means a lot more Christmases. Do your characters ever run out of ideas for presents to give to each other?

Like with everyone, human or otherwise, technology changes. My son said he just got an upgrade on his phone, so with technology, new games, books, movies, and living in the past, what would have worked then, might not now, it's all relative. Just like with us and what we might want for Christmas, the wolf characters all like different things. And it's the thought behind them that makes all the difference. Take for instance in A SEAL Wolf Christmas—Anna's sweater is ruined in a life-threatening situation. Bjornolf loved that sweater on her and he knows how disappointed she is that they couldn't get the mud out. So he buys her several more. Not just one, but several. It means something to the both of them. The same with each of the stories. The gifts given will be based on something personal to the two of them.

One year, I think when my son was about fifteen, he gave me a garden hose for Christmas. It wasn't a joke present. Though we all laughed when he brought it in from where he'd hidden it outside. He'd run over my hose with the lawn tractor and I'd spent forever cutting away the ruined hose from around the tractor's blades. It was the most memorable gift I ever received because of how thoughtful he was that he'd wanted to replace it.

The same goes for the wolves. Things happen. Whoever knows when it can give one the idea of the perfect gift?

What's up next for your Wolf series?

Coming next is SEAL Wolf Hunting in July. Before that is Jaguar Pride in February. And then we have A Silver Wolf Christmas in October, so more Christmas! I just finished writing that story! And next up is another about the SEAL wolves, another about the Silver wolves, one about the jaguars at Christmas—and I have to tell you there's going to be a real shakeup in this story, but I can't say why, and my editor wants a billionaire story. Now, I've written a couple of funny billionaire stories, non-wolves, no romantic suspense. So in keeping with my wolf storylines, I'm thinking of a billionaire playboy, who happens to be a wolf, and undercover. So tons more fun! Are you ready for more wolves, and which are your favorite?

I would like to thank Terry for stopping by Royal Reviews. It’s always a pleasure to have her here.

It's going to take a lot of mistletoe…

Guthrie MacNeill, financial advisor for his clan and werewolf pack, is at his wit's end when the pack leader's mate hires a gorgeous party planner to bring holiday cheer to the castle. Guthrie's wildly attracted to Calla, except he can't reconcile the fact that his job is to save the clan's money, and hers seems to be to spend it.

To warm this Highlander's heart

Calla Stewart has never had a more difficult client. The laird and lady of the castle are delightful, but the handsome Highlander holding the purse strings is quite impossible. Since she specializes in holiday magic, Calla hopes she can make the scrooge-like wolf lighten up. Then Guthrie takes on the role of Highland warrior to protect her from an unexpected threat, and the holidays take a turn for the passionate.

Woohoo, thanks for having me back, Angela!!! And thanks for another generous giveaway!

Did you know that it's Wolf Awareness Week? Yep, from Oct 12-18. If anyone wants to drop by there, I have a game to play. Identify what kind of creature is featured in the photos: coyote, coyote-wolf, Mexican gray wolf, Northern gray wolf, red wolves.

Thanks again to Royal Reviews for having me back!

I would buy him a nice chest to keep his tokens in, his memoirs that he can keep locked for his own viewing pleasure.

Well after "me", which of course is a given, how about a freezer full of raw meat, and I understand there is a wine, called "Werewolf" wine, so a case of that sounds like a good place to start.

I would buy him an electric toothbrush to keep those big teeth shiny and clean.

If I had the money... A large plot of land complete with deer, elk and all sorts of creatures for a wolf to hunt. The plot would have to bug enough to roam .

I would buy a nice fur comb to keep the fur coat looking nice and clean.

Ashley, or lost. Do you know that sometimes people steal wolves' clothes when they're out running in their birthday suit?

Since Were's go through a lot of clothes and need to strip fast, I would give him a set of "Break-away" shirt and pants that male strippers use for their stage acts: the type like they use in the movie"Magic Mike". LOL.
