My Thoughts:
When Emily Cooper promised her dying grandfather that she would deliver a long-lost letter to the woman he had planned to marry, she thought it was a simple task: Deliver the letter and return home and run her grandfather’s ranch. She never intended to take the job Clarice, her grandfather’s first love, offered and she certainly never intended to fall for Clarice’s handsome grandson.
Carolyn Brown surprised me with The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. There was a hominess to this book, it was sort of like a homespun quilt, you just wanted to crawl right in and soak up the warmth of it.
I can sympathize with Emily—I know the struggle that she’s going through with having just lost her grandfather, wanting to do right by him by taking care of his ranch but also needing a bit of space to breathe and take in what happened.
Greg Adams was an interesting hero. I’m a city girl—I wouldn’t survive county life—, but I would definitely give him a chance. There was quiet calm under the sexy exterior that makes you want to get to get to know him.
The chemistry between the two and the sexual tension was some of the best that I have ever read. The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride has the qualities of an old-fashioned romance. And I loved the fact that rather than using the internet or text messages to communicate Greg and Carolyn wrote actual letters.
And I absolutely loved Clarice and Dotty. The antics of those two was simply hilarious. I couldn’t wait to see what came next.
Overall, I enjoyed this little romance. It’s one of those books that should come with a caution label stating ‘once you start you can’t put it down’.
