Surprise! You're a Daddy!
Life's been full of surprises lately for rancher Garrett Frost—and not
in a good way. His mother has just dropped a bombshell about his past, so
Garrett takes some time away to come to terms with family secrets. And who
should he run into but Arden Cade, the beautiful photographer who shared a
single night of passion with Garrett six months ago. He is even more shocked
when he discovers she's pregnant—and he's the daddy.
To make matters worse, Arden hadn't even planned on telling Garrett
about the baby. Despite her lies, Garrett is determined to be a good father.
He's not the type to cut and run, and he can't deny that he's falling for Arden
all over again. But he'll have to find a way to forgive her betrayal…and make
peace with that skeleton in the family closet. (taken from the back of the
book)
My Thoughts:
A one-night stand to fill the void of loss resulted in more than Arden
Cade expected. Now six months pregnant, she runs into the father of her unborn
child out of the blue and more than sparks fly.
Garrett Frost has a hard time believing that Arden didn’t know how to
get in touch with him, although given the secret that his mother has kept for
him, it’s no wonder he has trust issues.
Now the two have to figure how to navigate the world of
soon-to-be-parents together while deciding if they should have a relationship
or not.
Her Secret, His Baby is one
of those books that I just instantly loved. The characters were strong, the plot was well
focused, and the romance was believable.
Arden and Garret were both
strong characters with real-to-life flaws. Their flaws and circumstances made
their choices and actions convincing. Both were strong-willed which made their
HEA more than interesting and I was beginning to wondering if they were ever
going to make it, which made me want to keep flipping the pages.
While the main characters were strong and could have easily carried the
book with just the two of them, this is the start of a miniseries entitled, The
Colorado Cades. And the addition of Arden’s brothers was what gave the story
that extra something for me, especially Colin, who is so wounded.
A fantastic start of a series. I cannot wait to see how the rest of
this miniseries plays out.
Keep checking back for our review of the next book in this amazing and
heartfelt series.
