Sara Humphreys’ Interview & Giveaway

1. Tell us something about yourself, so that we can get to know you a bit better…

Sara: I’m 43 years old and I live just outside NYC. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for almost 19 years and we have four sons. Ian is 18, Leo is 15 and our twins, William and Jack are 12. I have a wicked sweet tooth and must workout as a result.

2. Your romance novel, Tall, Dark, and Vampire, is out now—congrats! Could you tell us about it?

Sara: Olivia Hollingsworth is the head of an all-female vampire coven comprised of women she turned but only because they were dying when she found them. She runs a goth nightclub in NYC out of an old church and it’s called The Coven. She just wants to run her club in peace but when club-goers start to get murdered, life is anything but peaceful. When the police come to investigate, one of the detectives is a dead ringer for her long lost love—the man who died on her last night as a human.

Doug Paxton is a NYC homicide detective who is married to his work. The closest thing he’s had to a devoted relationship is a woman from his dreams. However, when he shows up at a local club to follow up on a murder investigation, the red headed beauty who owns it is the spitting image of his dream lover.

3. This is the first book in your Dead in the City series! Can you tell us more about it?

Sara: Dead in the City is my new vamp series and each of the women in the coven will get her own book. It’s kind of Sex in the City meets True Blood. I wanted to explore an all-female vampire coven and NYC is the perfect place to do it.

4. Do you have a favorite character from the series or one that was easier to write?

Sara: I love Maya. She’s so wounded and broken but has steely strength at her core and her hero is going to help her unleash her true power.

5. How do you find that perfect balance of romance and paranormal?

Sara: The romance is always linked to the paranormal element and one won’t work without the other.

6. What can readers expect next?

Sara: The fifth book in my Amoveo Legend series will be out in December—UNCLAIMED. The second Dead in the City book will be out in July 2014—VAMPIRE TROUBLE. I also signed another contract with Sourcebooks for a contemporary romance series—The McGuire Brothers—which I’m very excited about.

7. What inspired you to become an author?

Sara: I love to create. I was an actor but changed careers once I started my family and writing is another way to build characters and worlds. I realized several years ago that I needed some kind of creative outlet in order to feed my soul.

8. Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors?

Sara: Write. Edit. Write some more and never, ever give up! If you write romance then you must join RWA! It’s an outstanding group.

Tall Dark Vampire Cover TALL, DARK, AND VAMPIRE BY SARA HUMPHREYS – IN STORES AUGUST 2013

She always knew Fate was cruel...

The last person Olivia expected to turn up at her club was her one true love. It would normally be great to see him, except he's been dead for centuries. Olivia really thought she had moved on with her immortal life, but as soon as she sees Doug Paxton, she knows she'd rather die than lose him again. And that's a real problem...

But this is beyond the pale...

Doug is a no-nonsense copy by day, but his nights are tormented by dreams of a gorgeous redhead who's so much a part of him, she seems to be in his blood. When he meets Olivia face-to-face, long-buried memories begin to surface. She might be the answer to his prayers...or she might be the dead of him.

All female coven sounds so interesting. Raising four sons must be quite a handful, just the grocery bills itself. LOL.

Yay, for woman power. I love that its centered around an all women clan. Love books that feature strong, independent women.
