WHAT MUST WE SACRIFICE TO BE FORGIVEN?
Samuel Fisher has committed a sin of biblical proportions—he killed his own brother, Jacob. Haunted by guilt and stalked by a vampire for his soul. Samuel starts down the same dark path of destruction that led to his brother’s death.
A captivating coming-of-age story unlike any other: Plain Fear: Forgiven pits redemption against temptation, love against fear, and simple faith against the intricacies of sin and salvation. In the gripping final battle between hunters and vampires, Samuel must chose where his loyalties lie. The lives of those he loves—as well as his own ultimate forgiveness—hang in the balance. My Thoughts:
The Plain Fear trilogy by Leanna Ellis comes to a close with Forgiven.
Although you can read this as a standalone novel, first time readers may be a little lost as each of the previous books deals with what happened in the book before it. In Forgiven, Samuel is dealing with the guilt of killing his brother Jacob. Now Samuel finds himself heading down the same path that led to Jacob’s demise.
I am fairly sure that most people are familiar with the Biblical story of Samuel and Jacob. However, you haven’t heard it the way that Leanna Ellis portrays it set within the Amish community amidst the paranormal backdrop of vampires.
While the story is dark, it isn’t too dark and almost has a slight gothic touch. The vampire aspect of the book was handled very lightly without gore or many of the other elements associated with typical vampire books.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and was sad to see it end.
