1. Tell us something about yourself, so that we can get to know you a bit better…
Well, you can read my bio, but here’s the basics of it: 40 books, USA Today bestseller, sexy romance. Historicals are as Jade Lee. Contemporaries as Kathy Lyons. *yawn*
Real bio: I love to laugh and write hot sex. Real characters make me laugh, so I write that. Real poeple falling in love in funny, interesting ways. And yes, I love to read and write (and experience) hot, great sex!
2. Your romance novel, What The Bride Wore, is out now—congrats! Could you tell us about it?
I suck at promo copy. Seriously. I’m terrible at it, so here’s what the brilliant Jennifer St. Giles said as summary of the book.
Grant Benton, Earl of Crowle has reached the financial pinnacle he has fought years to attain and now sets his sights on seducing Lady Irene Knopp. But the recent widow has too much sense and sensibility to ever fall for the devilish Earl, or does she? Can he woo her into his arms and just how much will it cost him to prove he’s better than his reputation?
3. How do you find that perfect balance of romance and history?
True confession: I don’t. I write about people. History is just the setting. It’s the backdrop to where my people live. It gives a social structure (manners were key), beautiful balls and ballgowns (because who doesn’t love a gorgeous dress?), and the aristocratic attitudes that confront harsh reality (how does a person find fulfillment if s/he isn’t supposed to work? What does one do with one’s time?)
4.Do you do anything special to get into that writing frame of mind?
Coffee, latte, gossip–er networking with best pal Elizabeth Hoyt, and then after a mocha, we get to work.
5. What can readers expect next?
Dream Nights with the Wrong Twin by Kathy Lyons. Here’s all you need to know about that: Shared Erotic Dreams in a special B&B. Contemporary sexy.
6-What inspired you to become an author?
I’m not a big fan of reality or math. Turns out–if the stories I create in my head are good enough (and my writing skills are up to the task), then I can get paid to write them down. Thankfully, after a decade of practice and 40 books, I’m getting pretty good at that!
7. Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors?
Paraphrased from Smash! Protect the work. Everything else will come and go. Protect (and do) the work. Which means–write, write, write, and then write some more.
8. Anything else?
Yes. Here’s a picture of my favorite Jensen Ackles pictures because...well, why not?
All Grant Benton, Earl of Crowle, can think of is restoring his family's fortune so he can go back to being a gentleman of leisure. But when he meets beautiful, purposeful Lady Irene Knopp, he begins to question whether there might not be a better way to live life after all...
What's Left is Desire
Lady Irene will never give up her fulfilling work dressing the most beautiful brides in England. She'd rather risk losing love forever than sacrifice her own life's purpose. Yet she has never met a more magnetic, attractive man than Grant. Trapped between the fleeting chance at love and passion for her work, is it possible she can have it all?
