Interview with Jeanette Murray & Giveaway

Jeanette-Headshot-200x300

Please help me welcome Jeanette Murray to Royal Reviews!

1. Tell us something about yourself, so that we can get to know you a bit better…

I’m a simple 29 year old mother of one, wife of one, dog owner…of one. Lot’s of ones in my life. I write full time, when I’m not busy being a full time mom to our toddler (who is not one…but three!). And much like my toddler, I’m either moving, or I’m dead asleep. I have no middle speed.

2. Your romance novel, The Officer Breaks The Rules, is out now—congrats! Could you tell us about it?

Thank you. This is the second book of the Semper Fi series, the first being The Officer Says “I Do.” You don’t have to read them in order…but I always like to read my books in order if possible so I can’t help but encourage it. This one features Jeremy Phillips and Madison O’Shay, who are fighting. Jeremy’s fighting with his own desires to want Madison (his best friend’s sister) and Madison’s fighting with Jeremy to get over it and take her!

3. What inspired you to write the Semper Fi Series?

I met too many awesome Marines thanks to my husband, and I knew it was a natural progression for inspiration. Everyone loves a Marine.

4. Do you have a favorite character from the series or one that was easier to write?

Madison is most like one of my best friends, and so whenever I would hit a block with her, I would just think to myself… “What would (friend) do here?” And it usually worked!

5. How do you find that perfect balance of romance and plot?

Romance IS plot. If it’s done right, anyway. I think that’s why people read romance to begin with. There are so many things that can go wrong, naturally. But they want to read and watch the dips and valleys and peaks of a romance with the safety net of knowing in the end, no matter the odds, these two people are going to get it right.

6. What can readers expect next?

I recently had my first release under my other pen name, Kat Murray, which focuses on contemporary Western romance. That one was Taking the Reins, the first of the Roped & Wrangled series. And then of course, book 3 of the Semper fi series should be out this summer.

7. Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors?

Read, read, read. And then, when you feel like you know what you want for yourself, put your booty in the chair and write. Don’t be that person who is still talking about writing a book twenty years later. Write it. Even if you think it sucks…write it. You’ll learn something from it. And then, write another one. And another one. Rare is the author who hit it out of the park with their first complete manuscript. So don’t expect to, either. Call it a learning experience, and keep going.

Thanks for having me!

Thanks for being here!

Captain Jeremy Phillips believes in doing his duty…both as a son and as a friend. This means that he should obey the “friend code” and stay away from his best friend’s little sister. Too bad Madison O’Shay doesn’t believe in his code and is ready to break all the rules.

As a Navy nurse, Madison is finally stationed next to the man she’s been dreaming about for years. And she’s ready to launch a full-scale attack to show this thoughtful, handsome Marine that they belong together.

one of the first lite romance stories I read was a series of books my aunt had about Cherry Ames, Nurse - set in the 40's - it's been a while since I've read about a nurse - I think it's time to go there again.
