Just a Cowboy and His Baby by Carolyn Brown

imagesCABJ6EG5 SHE’S GOT HER EYE ON THE PRIZE…

Gemma O’Donell wasn’t the first woman to win the ProRodeo buckle for bronc riding, but se was darn well going to be the second. What she didn’t count on was her main competition sweeping her off her feet.

HE’LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN…

Trace Coleman isn’t really after a title—he needs the cash to buy his dream ranch. But one sexy, determined cowgirl keeps getting in his way. In his effort to take her out of the running, he risks losing both the title—and his heart.

THEY’RE BOTH IN FOR A LITTLE SURPRISE…

Everybody’s world is turned upside down when a pint-sized bundle of joy gets dropped into Trace’s lap…and suddenly all the stakes are higher. (from the back of the arc)

Title: Just A Cowboy And His Baby, Author: Carolyn Brown, ISBN: 978-1-4022-7018-5, Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca, Format: Mass-Market Paperback, $7.99/£5.99, How I Read It: Mass-Market ARC from publisher, Rating: 3.5 Crowns

My Thoughts:

I am kind of on the fence about this book—it is not that I did not like it, I just didn’t love it. While Gemma was spunky and determined to fight it out in what is viewed as a man’s world and Trace is completely and utterly charming, I found that I was a bit put off by Ava.

Whenever Ava’s story appeared in the book, it seemed to throw the pace of the book a bit off kilter. Also, I was hoping that there would be more of the baby situation in the book, yet it seems to all be crammed into the ending.

What saved the book for me and kept me continuously flipping the pages was the chemistry between Trace and Gemma. I loved whole from fierce competitors to red-hot lovers aspect, it truly help the book together.

Overall, this was a pleasing fast-paced. While it wasn’t my favorite novel from Carolyn Brown, I still highly recommend it.
