1. Tell us something about yourself, so that we can get to know you a bit better…
TF: Next May, I will have been married for twenty years to the love of my life. We have two boys – 17 and 8. I am the ultimate sports mom! Does the word cowbell mean anything to you? Yeah, that’s me!
2. Your historical paranormal romance, A Lady and Her Magic, is out now—congrats! Could you tell us about it?
TF: A LADY AND HER MAGIC is the story of the dangerous Duke of Robinsworth, who meets a faerie named Sophia Thorne. Sophia is tasked with a mission to help the duke’s daughter, but she’s inexplicably drawn to him. Her world is much like his, in that she lives by a set of rules almost as strict as that of his world. Together, they’ll break all the rules.
3. The opening line of your book is outstanding. When writing, how do you find just that right sentence or paragraph to open the book with?
TF: I actually had that as the first sentence of the second chapter, but my awesome agent took a look at it and said, “This is a powerful line. You should start the book here.” So, I did. It worked!
4. What prompted you to write A Lady and Her Magic?
TF: I’ve been writing as half of the team that makes up Lydia Dare. We wrote about Lycans and vampyres in Regency England. So, I started wondering what other creatures might make interact with the British ton.
5. What can readers expect next?
TF: Next is WOLFISHLY YOURS by Lydia Dare in November. Then the next faerie book will be out in June of 2013.
6. Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring authors
TF: Honestly, I wouldn’t be published today if I hadn’t joined RWA and my local chapter, Heart of Carolina Romance Writers. At every stage of my career, they have been there with advice, and there’s someone who has faced the same thing I have. So, if I could suggest anything to a new writer, it would be to find a similar group.
A LADY AND HER MAGIC BY TAMMY FALKNER – IN STORES SEPTEMBER 2012
Rules Are Made to be Disobeyed...
Sophia Thorne is new to the Regency's glittering high society, which resembles her magical homeland only insofar as both places are filled with ridiculous rules. Which means no matter where she goes, she's bound for trouble...
And Scandals Are Meant to be Shocking...
The Duke of Robinsworth has flaunted and shocked society for years. In a moment of fateful mischief, Robinsworth encounters the enchanting and distinctly scandalous Sophia. Between her streak of magical mischief and his penchant for scandal, they're about to take rule-breaking to a whole new level...
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As half of the Lydia Dare writing team, Tammy Falkner has co-written ten books, including A Certain Wolfish Charm and In the Heat of the Bite. A huge fan of Regency England, her new series explores the theory that the fae can walk between the glittering world of the ton and their own land. Tammy lives on a farm in rural North Carolina with her husband and a house full of boys, a few dogs, and a cat or two.
