Interesting & Random Facts:

-As the second son of England’s King, Henry was prepared for a life in the Church rather than the life of a king.

-Henry was the first King of England to be addressed as Your Majesty, a style which he copied from the French.

-Henry was the first King to have hot water piped into his castles.

-He aided in creating a new form of armour that had better articulation allowing the wearer more flexibility and accuracy.

-He often created his own medicines using wild ingredients such as pearls, sapphires, and poisonous plants. 30 of The King’s Own Remedies still exist in a book under the same name written in the King’s own hand. The book is kept in the British library.

Since today is my birthday, I though that I would celebrate by hosting a giveaway.

Happy Birthday! I think Henry VIII is one of the most fascinating monarchs because he embodied knowledge and yet his selfishness is what every knows about him. Most people don't know how incredibly knowledgeable he was.

Happy Birthday! Without a doubt Henry VIII had an aura about him which was compelling. So many individuals were under his spell. His charisma was well known as was his role in the separation of The Church of England from The Roman Catholic Church. elliotbencan(at)hotmail(dot)com

Wow, what an incredible, and generous giveaway! Happy Birthday! I agree that Henry VIII was a very interesting monarch, but I really deplore the destruction of the beautiful abbeys and monasteries. Thanks for the giveaway.

Happy Birthday! I have to admit I love the prizes that you listed but what I love most is the it includes a copy of The Royals by Leslie Carroll!

My husband is a history lover and his one disappointment when we visited England was that Windsor Castle was closed the day we visited because of renovations.

He loves reading about the different monarchs and this would be the perfect gift for his birthday in April!

I am constantly amazed by Henry. A kind ruler transformed to a suspicious ruler. A chivalrous man who married Catherine of Aragon to protect her, to a heartless man who disposed of wives like garbage. What an odd man!!
And Happt Birthday!!!
I'd love to win, Allisonmharper@hotmail.com
