Bladehame

Lan'dor holds the silver scepter with power over metal, and the sword at his hip fairly hums with magical resonance. His palace is made of the stuff; silver spires and towers and boxy rooms. The male court is more muscular than most, and their swords are not ceremonial, but crafted for serious use. The women are also unusually robust, and if they do not carry a short sword, then a long dagger can be found hanging from their girdles. The great hall has a sharp smell of metal that even the courtier’s perfume cannot cover, and in the winter the engraved metal floors can be unbearably cold, so shoes and boots have thick soles.

Excerpts featuring Bladehame, from The Elven Lords Series by Kathryne Kennedy:

The land:

The old man narrowed his eyes, eyes that held the same silver sparkles as the captain’s. Not surprising, as the best soldiers hailed from Bladehame, where the elven lord Lan’dor ruled with his power over metal, and turned the north central part of England into a land of mines and forges. And warriors skilled in battle with enchanted weapons.

The dragons:

She had heard the dragons of the six other sovereignties had different powers associated with their elven lords: the black dragon of Firehame could breathe fire; the blue dragon of Dewhame, lightning; the green dragon of Verdanthame could breathe a mist that grew tangled briars and enormous trees. The silver dragon of Bladehame spat molten metal, the brown dragon of Terrahame emitted a roar that cracked the earth, and the violet dragon of Stonehame could turn anything to stone with his breath.

I think I would like to chat with the black dragon from Firehame (Ador, I think . . ) the most because for some reason I've always been curious about why exactly the dragon took an interest in Dominic. The two have an interesting bond, but is the dragon furthering his own agenda or does he just honestly like Dominic? And hopefully, even though I may be asking a rude question, he won't burn me to a crisp. ^_^

I'd want to chat with the blue dragon of Dewhame. I've always loved thunderstorms with all the lightning.

I would want to talk to the Dragon of Verdanthame. Maybe we could have a nice enlightening visit under a huge tree!

I would choose the Black Dragon of Firehame. The ability to breathe fire is amazing! I'd ask him how he prevents his own throat from being burned.

It would be interesting to talk to violet dragon of Stonehame, and how he feels about turning things into stone and if he has any regrets about anything that was turned.

Although they're all very fascinating, I think I would pick the green dragon of Verdanthame who could breathe a mist that grew tangled briars and enormous trees. This is such an original idea and I would love to see that happen and of course hear Kathryne's voice as to how this comes about in her story.

I would enjoy a conversation with the Violet Dragon of Stonehame. Since he does possess this special ability how does he make his decisions upon what he turns to stone. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com

The Green dragon of verdanthame would be captivating to speak to. Any dragon that can create mist is worth knowing. elliotbencan(at)hotmail(dot)com

Only one? All of them are so cool! ;D I like the green dragon. I wonder if i asked nicely, if he would breathe the mist and help me create an awesome tree house! lol ;D How cool would that be? Thanks!

I would love to have a conversation with the silver dragon of Bladehame who spats molten metal. The things he could create and the riches that could be generated by such a talant. The conversations we could have, wow. Thanks for the giveaway and the blog hop has been a great taste of the series!

Hello everyone! It's great to be here today! Thanks so much for having me here ladies of Royal Reviews!

Hi xiaopanda! Nice choice! As far as your question goes, I think it's a little bit of both...but even I don't understand the way a dragon's mind works. :}

Hi Mindy! I'm a fan of thunderstorms as well...so powerful!

Hi Allison! What a wonderful thought!

Hi Diana! Ador was born of fire, and it's a part of his being. He doesn't have skin and bone equivalent to any animal on earth. It would be interesting to study the composition of his tissue, but I don't think I'd want to be the one to hold him down and try. :}

Hi Jean! Great choice and interesting thought! He is, by the elven lords standards, the weakest of the dragons...because he fell in love with a human woman. So, yes, I imagine he has some regrets.

Hi Catslady! Yes, I think I would enjoy writing that adventure some day! Lovely to hear from you again!

Hi traveler! Good to meet you, and wonderful observation!

Hi petite! LOVED your answer!

Hi shadow! Very cool! What a fun idea!

Hi Carol! I would love to hear that conversation! It would be fascinating.

Hi glittergirl! So very glad to hear that! I think I'm having even more fun than you ladies!

Hi Chelsea! Another vote for Verdanthame! I love all the nature girls here.

Hrmm... being a dragon lover can I say all of them? Yeah I cannot pick just one that I would want to talk too..

So far, reading The Lord of Illusion, I would want to meet the dragon of Dreamhame. I don't want to put any spoilers out there, but he seems the most compassionate, and I really like his mist ability. Though given the chance, I would LOVE to talk to any dragon as long as it doesn't try to eat me!

Magen Weller said...

It would be so hard to just pick one, b ut if I had to, it would be The Blue Dragon of Dewhame, I would love to ask him for a ride during a thunderstorm, I know it sounds dangerous, but I think thats part of the alure, besides, how awesome would it be to be so close to the storm, to be in the clouds, and see the lightening in the clouds before it meets the earth. Can you tell Thunderstorms are one of my fave things in all the world :-P

The blue dragon of Dewhame! We would chat, talk about our love of thunderstorms and hundreds of other little things. We would become very close and the Blue dragon of Dewhame would become a protector and would enable me to travel the land to help those in need. A truly heroic purpose that would be affected in no way by the dragon matching the color of my eyes perfectly =)
Fun question!

Hi Raonaid! Yes, you can pick them all! :}

LOL, Alyssa! So glad to hear you're loving Grimor'ee! And they don't really eat humans...they prefer beef. ;}

Hi Magen! Yes, I can tell! You do love to live dangerously. :}

Hi Lexi! You paint a wonderful picture!

That's definitely a hard question, but I think I would go with the blue dragon of Dewhame, lightning, because I could duck and weave and try to avoid being struck!! LOL Thanks so much for the giveaway! I'm dying to read these books :D

Oh that would have to be the violet dragon. And maybe if I was lucky I could fly with the dragon. Do I need to comment on every stop to be elegible for the grand prize?
Thank you.

black dragon but I would be sure to
stay out of the "firing line!"

Hi Julianne! No, but the more comments you make, the better chance you have of winning. Good luck!

I would pick the green dragon of Verdanthame I think although honestly they all sound very intriguing. The ability to grow trees sounds neat.

I would choose the blue dragon of Dewhame who breathes lightning. Lightening is extremely fast and aimed at a specific area. I believe the conversation would be similar.

Like most, I think it would have to be the blue one with the lightning, as long as I was not the victim. I love to watch a good lightening storm. All of that power unleashed reminds me of a good alpha male!

Heather said...

I'd be having tea with the green dragon. Breathing mist and having the ability to grow huge trees, and environmentalists dream.

I would want to talk with the blue dragon of Dewhame. I love storms and we rarely get lightning/thunder where I live. So, I'd love to hang out with the blue dragon for while. :)

Of course I would want to talk to the dragon who is my favorite color...blue! The fact that he can create lightning is also a bonus because of course one needs light to read (-:

Loving dragons the way I do, I would love to talk to all of them, but having to pick one, the Dragon of Verdanthame has the most intriguing power - creating a plethora of plants! A dragon that can create life from breath - how godlike and wondrous is that!

I would be so thankful to win a copy of LORD OF ILLUSIONS especially - to complete the terrific trilogy.

Thanks so much!

I would like to speak with the green dragon of Verdanthame. Green is my favorite color and the mist he breathes grows briars and very large trees is really cool. Thanks for the tour. Look forward to reading these books.
