I loved reading your opinions regarding whether Anne was innocent or guilty. One way or another, we must come to the agreement that Anne was a very clever woman. Not only was she able to snag the King, but she was able to hold him captivated throughout the process of the “Great Matter”, (aka his divorce from Catherine), which was 6 long years.
Personally, I believe that she was a victim of her own device. She reveled in being the center of attention, which opened the door for Henry to charge her with adultery. Do I think she loved the King? I am not so sure that she did, she was a pawn in her father and uncles game to elevate their standing. Was she crazy? I believe so, she had a major melt down when she found out that Catherine was still making Henry’s shirts (the series had it right, it actually happened).
Innocent or guilty, sane or insane one thing remains the same, she was and still is fascinating people worldwide.
Meet the Tudor’s Giveaway includes:
Henry VIII: The King and His Court by Alison Weir

I don't think I know enough to answer but I would speculate that they were just good friends.
Thank you!

I haven't heard of anything different, but haven't read every Tudor book. But I've always liked to think they were best friends.

They were very good friends and had a great deal in common. Many thanks.
I don't know much about them so I can't really answer the question.
Thanks,
Terri C.
Very close friends whose families knew each other well.
I always thought they were very good friends and whose families had known each other for quite a while. I have speculated as to whether they were brothers and it would be interesting to read more about that aspect, but I haven't as yet read anything that was convincing.

When Charles was married to Mary Tudor (his third wife, I believe), he was Henry VIII's brother-in-law. I also think their relationship was very friendly because of similarities in personality.

I have never heard that they might be siblings, so I am going to go with the fact that they were good friends that grew up together. I am loving these Tudor days!

I think they must have been friends.
Good question! I'm going to say no however I guess there can be much speculation about this. Not only did Henry favor him but his father as well and for him to be so elevated in position with his tudoring alongside the royal children and title etc. makes you wonder....

I think they were good friends who grew up together or families were close. I think they were as best friends because when Henry needed anything important done or handled or if it was the illness of the king Charles was there to take care of it. I dont own any books of the tudors i read everything online and history channel. I would love to win theses books.

I believe they were just good friends. Even when Charles "betrayed" the king, Henry couldn't put him on trail or inprison him. I believe at one time Charles married the kings sister Mary Tudor and even when it infuriated the king he still let him lived. So then Charles was a brother-in-law. but not blood related. Please select me for these books. Thanks

I read once that Charles and Henry were childhood friends. When Henry became king he made Charles a duke, but later he nearly lost his head over Henry's sister Mary.

I think friends only. Charles would not have married his own sister, right? Never crossed my mind that they possibly could be brothers biologically.
I can't lay claim to being an expert on the Tudors but from the novels I have read on the period, I can't remember coming across any hints that they might be siblings so to me I would consider them good friends.
Thanks for the giveaway and for opening it to worldwide entries.
Much aooreciated.

Of course, I saw them portrayed in The Tudors as very close friends, but I read somewhere that they were not as close as portrayed in the series. I honestly can't remember where I read that. I know that Brandon did indeed marry Henry's sister so they were related by marriage.
Thanks for the great event.

I've never heard anything other than that they were very good friends. Is there some other theory out there? Thanks for the giveaway; the Maria Perry book has been on my wish list for a long time.
