I'm hoping to get beyond Obsessed :D Thank you for hosting this, I LOVE Fantasy!!

I went for the fascinated level but would love to get to obsessed. Good luck!

Fantasy is not one of my favorite genres, so I willhave to look for somehting I might like. Lindy/CT

I'll totally play! I think I could do obsessed, but I'll do addicted for now. Won't be too hard a challenge for me as I LOVE reading fantasy!

Katy said...

Sounds like a great challenge could totally use some suggestions though to get started what everyone thinks is good.

Alaine said...

Caitlan, it depends on the type of fantasy you like. If it's Urban Fantasy, then I'd suggest Charlaine Harris, Kelley Armstrong or Jeaniene Frost, if you're after Young Adult Fantasy you could try Kristin Cashore, PC Cast or Maggie Stiefvater, if it's historical fantasy you want to read then I'd suggest Juliet Marillier, Katherine Kerr or Marion Zimmer Bradley. The list just goes on and on, I'd recommend checking out Goodreads for some great fantasy reading.

Okay, I must be insane. I'm signing up for this one too, as Addicted. I already have my first six picked out and will choose the next six over the next week. I am off work for two weeks for holidays and will spend a pleasant few hours in Chapters (sans kids), with a good Starbucks.

Almost forgot to sign up for this one, looking forward to working through my urban fantasy stockpile LOL

Oh man, This looks like a wonderful challenge and I love the widget. The challenge would work wonderfully with my sci fi challenge. I'll be back when I figure out what I'm going to do. Will probably be signing up.

I am assuming that you mean book started on or after January 1st? I don't have to start reading them all at once do I? ;)

Alaine said...

Realta, no you don't have to read them all at once. You just have to read them in 2010.

I love fantasy...well I think I do. I might have to bounce a couple of titles off you to make sure.

Great challenge! I'd like to sign up for obsessed!

Wings @ storywings.blogspot.com said...

do vampires count? or are they strictly paranormal...

Alaine said...

Wings, yes Vampires count as long as they are in Urban Fantasy and not Paranormal Romance.

If you are not sure how to tell the difference a general guide would be that Paranormal Romance are about a couple and they are featured in one book. At least that's my understanding of it.

At the end of the day we are happy for you to make up your own mind. But don't forget there is also a Romance challenge going so you can us it for your Paranormal Romance.

Wings @ storywings.blogspot.com said...

hehe yeah im part of that challenge as well...for this one ill keep it strictly fantasy...that means i get to read more so yeay!!

Laurie T said...

I deleted my first post because it linked to the wrong blog. So here is my comment again:
I love fantasy, but haven't had time to read any lately. This challenge will be a fun way for me to catch up on my reading and to find out what others thought of their books.

Erika said...

I accidentally linked to my main page, and not the challenge link on my page! The badge is on the front page, so I hope that is okay. Should I just re-enter?

I am participating for "Fascinated." :)

Alaine said...

Hi Erika, it's all fixed now.

Erika said...

I thought your avatar looked familiar! You are one of my GoodReads friends. :)

Alaine said...

Hi Erika, yes I have the same avatar for everything now. It makes it easier for people to link all the different forums together, like blogging and goodreads and Twitter etc.

Kelly said...

Going for obsessed as this is one of my favourite genres, I'll be tagging the books with the tag "royal reviews challenge" and using Goodread's usual review system.

Alaine said...

Hi Kelly and welcome to the challenge! Fantasy is also one of my favourite genres. Look forward to reading some of your reviews or finding some new authors.

I guess I'm not good at following directions... Direct link to my post is: http://storytimelove.blogspot.com/2010/03/fantasy-fiction-reading-challenge.html
Apologies. :)

Carin said...

Would you count Anne McCaffrey's Pern series as fantasy? I think she labels it science fiction, but to me it reads more like fantasy than science fiction (and I have always considered it to be fantasy until the last few years). I also linked to my main page on my blog and not my Fantasy Challenge link. Here it is (sorry for mess up):
