Oh this one looks right up my alley! I'll do a post tomorrow when I'm more awake! Lol!

I am waivering between FASCINATED and ADDICTED at the moment - I already have a list of 12 books to read next year for my own book group, but I am sure that I can cope with another list!!
Will post later on when I have chosen my book titles.
Participated in an Historical Fiction Challenge in 2008 (Apr - October) and enjoyed this. Especially when it opened up a huge range of books I had not been aware of.

Okay, I'm not sure I did it right! I put in the URL to my blog where I have posted the link and picture for the challenge in my sidebar. On that blog, I will be posting about each book as I read it. I guess then I will need to put in the URL for each review.

burrum said...

I have chosen my books and listed them on my blog, together with a link back to this site.

As I read mostly hist-fic anyway, I thought this would be a fun challenge to participate in. I have decided to be FASCINATED and have chosen my 6 books for the challenge, although I suspect I'll actually read more than 6 and end up somewhere between FASCINATED and OBSESSED (just as it should be!). :)
Happy reading!

I'm a little late, but since my first book of the new year just happens to be historical fiction, I don't think it will matter!

I'm going for obsessed.

Thanks for hosting!

DP9 said...

Hi all! I'll be going for the Addicted; not sure if I'll make it as I'm reading across a lot of different genres and the moment. I did about 15 HF last year, so I should be able to manage 12. I'm currently reading "Troy: Lord of the Silver Bow" by David Gemmell, and although I started it before Jan 1 I'm going to count it, as I'm going to have read most of it this year :-)
Good luck, everyone!

Jessica said...

I am going to try for the fascinated level on this challenge this year.
I will post my books at the end of the year at http://ireadtorelax.blogspot.com

Just a question: are we supposed to sign up with Mr. Linky for each review that we do or is there some other place for reviews that I haven't found yet? Thanks, I've read 3 already--well on my way to obsessed. Thanks

I've written my January sum-up which includes two historical fiction reviews (The Founding and Sunnyside):

burrum said...

Have completed my second book - DREAMING THE BULL - BOUDICA - by Manda Scott.

The book is the story of the world's famous warrior Queen. (I always thought she was Boadecia, but in actual fact her correct name was BREACA.
Boudica - means the ruler of the tribes.
I couldn't immerse myself in this story - seems to be more a tale of the Romans and in particular, Breaca's brother BAN, who had supposedly died at the hands of Amminios, brother to Caradoc.
(Caradoc was the husband of Breaca).
BAN was taken into slavery by Amminios, and then went on to join the Roman Army.
He then returned to Britain, and was fighting against his own people.
Maybe it was the mood I was in at the time, but I wasn't interested enough to finish the book.

Alaine said...

burrum, thanks for the review. I was wondering about this book. Although you are right sometimes if you don't enjoy a book it can be that you were not in the mood for it.

I'm joining! This will be posted on my blog soon!

Hey..I just joined the reading challenge and I'm sure this sounds kind of dumb but I'm new to blogger so I'm kind of wondering how to post the reading challenge picture in my sidebar? I get that I have to add one of those html/javascript gadgets and then post it in there, but I'm thinking maybe I'm putting the wrong address in there or something because every time I copy in the address where the image is located all I get is the address showing up on my sidebar, not the image. Anyway, thanks in advance if you can maybe tell me what I'm doing wrong so I can add the reading challenge pic to my sidebar.
my email's mbellishedlife@gmail.com and my blog is at: m-bellishedlife.blogspot.com/

Hi! I just wanted to let all you gorgeous readers know I WROTE a historical fiction novel that you're welcome to read for free. :) Send me an email - zuel_88@hotmail.com and I'll send you the PDF so you can read it. It's about a rich and handsome 17-year-old guy who quits the good life and runs off to the Civil War with three good friends. There's adventure, love, sacrifice, battles, and great descriptions of the 1860's. I'm doing a classics challenge with historical fiction in it, and I can't wait to meet more of you lovely readers!

Hi! I’ve found your blog accidentally but I think it’s so entertaining1 I like it so much and I will certainly link it to my friends. I think your idea is great and challenging! Keep up with it! For those, who don’t like to write there’s always custom essay writing.

Anonymous said...

Hi!
I've recently discovered your blog and I really like it! I created a blog in english a few days ago, where I write my reviews, and I would like to participate in this challenge!
I know I'm a late comer but since historical fiction is one of my favourite genres I really want to be in this one. =)

Anonymous said...

I'm really hoping to at least reach Fascinated but of course I'm hoping for Obsessed. Historical fiction used to be all I read in high school before I overloaded and switched to contemp fiction. I think it will be nice to get back to my original reading passion through this challenge. :D

Lizzie said...

I said this in the romance challenge too but here we go again, this is my original post on my entry:
http://historicallyobsessed.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-reading-challenges-2010.html

But it got too confusing to keep track, I made a whole separate page for my challenges. I have not got my list of links up yet but will be doing it tonight. My current status is 15 HF so far. Here is the forever home for them now.

Thank you so much Alaine and sorry it took me so long to visit.
