If you like long drawn out family sagas then this book is for you. It took me six days to get through it and that was in part because I wasn't overly excited about picking it up. Don't get me wrong this book was beautifully written and appears to be very well researched but I found it to be dark and depressing. Not one character in the book gets a happy ending and it seems like one family tragedy after another. Unfortunately I won't be in any hurry to pick up another book from this author unless I have an overwhelming need to feel depressed.

I read her first book, and thought that it was pretty good. I am on the library list for this one as well.
