The three of us would have made a great experiment on target audiences!
Here's how we stood pre-Twilight:
- The Empress - We all know she has slightly morbid reading tastes and is willing to give any book a go once. Needless to say her interest was piqued by the idea of hot vampires and the phenomenal success of the novels.
- The Princess - Amusingly enough she has a blood phobia and is ashamed to say that she felt a little bit snobby about reading YA Fiction. But she couldn't resist giving it a go after she heard how Meyer dreamed her characters. Isn't that every wannabe author's ultimate fantasy?
- The Queen - Out of the three of us, she was the one who was expected to hate Twilight. She doesn't really like suspense and found the concept of vampires nightmare-inducing. But she was still willing to give it a go! In fact, proving that even after 22 years of knowing someone you can still shock them - she was the one who suggested reading the series!
And after Twilight?
- The Empress: Obsessed.
- The Princess: Obsessed.
- The Queen: Obsessed.
It seemed like the more we talked about it, the more we talked one another into it. It seemed like the more we saw the movie (*ahem* some people saw it 4 times) the more obsessed we became. Twilight has been like a sickness. A very enjoyable sickness.
Moral of the story? Don't judge a book by it's vampires!
